The Treadway Mission

At Treadway International, our staff and consultants have worked at the forefront of humanitarian and development operations in conflict zones around the world. Our experience stems from program implementation-- including donor relations and project management, research, monitoring and evaluation, and security management. We offer a comprehensive approach to risk management based on the core belief that reducing fraud, waste, and abuse of aid is vital to improving the delivery of humanitarian and development services.

Humanitarian organizations, particularly those in active conflict zones, work in environments wrought with difficulties related to safety, access and information. Compared to counterparts in the private and public sector, aid organizations consistently face among the highest levels of operational risks-- however, research indicates that the sector reports disproportionately low losses from fraud, waste and diversion. Very often organizations can neither identify nor measure the extent to which aid is misappropriated, which endangers not only their ability to mitigate the associated consequences, but also their accountability to stakeholders, beneficiaries and donors. Unlike other sectors, the real victims of fraud and waste are some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Treadway understands that for a sector providing life-supporting assistance, beneficiaries come first. That is why Treadway is committed to developing and providing effective counter-fraud and diversion controls that keep pace with changing conflict dynamics, while promoting a quality of service that builds trust and accountability.
